ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- The Athens humane society is taking a cue from popular online dating sites.
The shelter is launching a program to pair dogs and cats with owners based on personalities and preferences.
Called "Meet Your Match," the website labels pets with color-coded tags like "leader" or "party animal." Prospective owners will take an online personality test to help them choose a pet.
The program was created by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Studies by the group show programs like "Meet Your Match" has increased adoptions by 40 percent and decreased euthanasia by 46 percent.
