Macon Police Chief Mike Burns says officers admitted to playing football behind a store Thursday afternoon.
Photos show six police cruisers parked behind a Presidential Parkway store and five officers apparently playing football.
In an email, the Chief says the group of officers met behind the building to assist a detective with a warrant. He says while they waited on the detective to arrive, the officers were seen playing football.
Burns says, "I want to be clear to the public and the media, no supervisor was on the scene and no harm was intended by these officers."
"The men are appropriately remorseful about and embarrassed by their involvement," says Burns.
According to the Chief, those involved will not be suspended.
He says they will, however, receive notice of their discipline Monday.
"The MPD is moving on, continuing to serve and protect the citizens of Macon around the clock," says Burns.
He says superiors in the department explained to the officers they used poor judgment.
