Monday's a big day near Robins Air Force Base. Central Georgians will descend on McConnell-Talbert Stadium for the annual Independence Day Celebration.
Warner Robins police will shut down several roads in connection with the event. A news release by the police department included the following information:
Noon - 3rd Avenue from Davis Dr. to Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. will be closed to ALL Vehicular Traffic to include parking. (Pedestrian Traffic Allowed on Roadway to Demon Valley Gate ONLY)
4 p.m. - Demon Valley Dr. will be closed to ALL vehicular traffic to include parking.
6 p.m. -- Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd from 3rd Ave. to Huntington Village entrance will be closed to ALL Southbound vehicular traffic
General Parking & Entry/Exit Points:
There are areas designated for the parking of passenger vehicles. They are (1), McConnell-Talbert Stadium (2) WR High School, (3) Rumble Academy (4) Linwood Drive Area, (5) Sacred Heart Church, (6) Robins Federal CU and (7) City of Warner Robins Municipal Complex. There will be NO PARKING allowed along city streets, shoulders, rights of way, sidewalks or ANY of the improved grass areas of RFCU, Sacred Heart Church, Macon State College property, or Crossroads School. Improperly parked vehicles will be immediately towed at the owner's expense.
There are (2) Entry/Exit points designated for pedestrian traffic attending the venue. They are the Main Gate of the Stadium along with the Demon Valley/Davis Dr. Gate. Gates open at 6:00PM.
An area directly adjacent to the Stadium's Main Gate has been reserved for properly permitted and displayed Handicap Vehicles. Please plan to arrive early as these spaces are limited.
Public Safety Operations Center:
A Public Safety Operations Center will be located just outside the Stadium's Main Gate. This area will provide centralized access to Police, Fire and EMS services during the venue. In case of an emergency, please contact the nearest public safety officer or the operations center.
Glass containers of ANY Type, Alcoholic Beverages, Pets (Except Service Animals) & ALL weapons as it is a School Safety Zone.
