The Bibb County Sheriff's office is investigating a drowning at the Amerson Water Park Thursday night.  Investigators say Asfar Jeffery, 41, of Decatur, went back into the water after being told the park was closing.  According to a release from Lt. Sean Defoe, the park attendant stated that he heard screams for help.

Witnesses told deputies that the victim's brother, Asad Jeffery, of Macon saw his brother go under the water and tried to save him.  When he reached the victim, both men began to go under.  The park attendant says he threw an inner tube into the river in an attempt to save both men.   Asad Jeffery was able to grab the tube and was pulled back to shore.   Asfar Jeffery did not come back up.

Macon-Bibb County Fire Department's Rescue Dive Team recovered the victim's body near the area where he went under.  A family member told investigators that the brothers did not know how to swim. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says that Jeffery's body will be taken to the Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy Friday.  Anyone with information about the drowning is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-746-9441.
