Macon Police responded to the Medical Center Emergency Room Thursday night on a call about a person shot.

A 24-year-old black male told officers he was driving his Ford Crown Victoria with two passengers when a black male suspect opened fire behind them.

The male passenger sitting in the back seat was struck in the face, sustaining a non-life threatening injury to his right cheekbone. A small bullet fragment was lodged in the facial area.

Eyewitness News took photos of the car, which has its windows broken out, and the area in front of the Emergency Room which was marked with crime scene tape.

Thursday night, WMAZ incorrectly reported that the shooting took place at Whiskey River Nightclub. The shooting actually occurred on Sherry Drive at Pio Nono Avenue.

This case is under investigation, but authorities do not think it is a random shooting.
