Candidate for senate David Lucas took the next step in his bid for the senate seat currently held by fellow Democrat Miriam Paris.
He officially opened his campaign headquarters this afternoon.
The offices are located on Forsyth Street.
The longtime former State Representative told 13WMAZ he's energized about the race ahead.
"I will be the voice for the people," Lucas said. "You won't have to worry about the back door deals and not knowing anything about it.
As a good friend of mine who sang at one time, Tyrone Davis and Johnny Taylor, it's all out in the open."
Another Democrat is challenging Miriam Paris for that seat. That's Irving Martinez.
The winner of the July 31 primary will face Republican Bobby Gale from Irwinton in November.
