A Fort Valley man died Friday when a tractor trailer hit his pickup truck crossing the Georgia 49 Connector.
Georgia State Patrol Corporal Elbert Slappy says around 2 p.m. Friday, 55-year-old Sullivan Wayman was driving south on Woolfolk Road, crossing the Georgia 49 Connector when he failed to yield to the right of way and was hit by a tractor trailer on the passenger side.
Slappy says Wayman's truck rotated and hit the tractor trailer again, and he was ejected from the truck.
The tractor trailer driver, 43-year-old Earnest Huston of Macon was not charged in the accident.
Slappy says Wayman died on the scene and did not appear to be wearing a seat belt.
Earlier this month, Governor Sonny Perdue signed a bill into law that requires people in pickup trucks to wear seat belts.
