"We hope to get some adopted today." says Mary Crawford.
In an effort to find homes for several dogs, including Marty, All About Animals held a benefit.
Whitney Evans works with the group and fosters Marty.
"He spent most of his life in a crate and when we first for him he wouldn't come out of the crate at all he would coward in the back." says Evans.
Marty was part of a forty-dog hoarding group and Evans rescued him from a Jones County Animal Shelter.
"Now look at him he's come a long way. He's a really great dog, he's house trained, potty trained, he loves to cuddle, he's good with other dogs and he's just one of the many great dogs that have been rescued." says Evans.
She says Macon is overpopulated with dogs. "One dog can create litters and litters of puppies and they just keep reproducing and breeding."
And the shelter is busting at the seams. "There are a ton of dogs here that are very well adjusted. They've just been abandoned, lost or they just never had a home."
Evans says despite their efforts, the shelter euthanizes every week and it's just a matter of time before their time is up.
And she hopes she can find a good home for friend Marty. "He has to be able to sleep in the bed, because he likes to sleep kind of in your nook all night."
She says she'll continue to foster Marty until she finds a good home, because he deserves it.
The cost to adopt from All About Animals is $150 for dogs and $100 for cats. Those fees include up-to-date shots as well as spay and neutering.
