Outgoing District Attorney Greg Winters will be joining the Houston County District Attorney's office in January.
In an interview Monday, Winters told 13WMAZ that he will join that office under the direction of Houston County District Attorney George Hartwig. Winters will serve as an Assistant District Attorney.
Reached by phone, Hartwig told us that he eagerly awaits Winters' arrival.
"I am thrilled to have Greg Winters join our team. Anytime you can have someone with Greg's prosecution experience and intergrity join the office it is a real win for the people in Houston County, " Hartwig said.
Winters has served as the Macon Judicial Circuit's District Attorney since winning a special election in the summer of 2010. The Republican was defeated last month in a heated contest with Democrat David Cooke.
