The Georgia Department of Transportation will be installing a mini roundabout at the intersection of Bass Road and Riverside Drive in Macon.
It's being installed to address "safety concerns due to high speed angled crashes over the past 5-6 years," a GDOT news release states.
Signs were put in place Thursday to alert drivers to the upcoming changes. The "mini" roundabout will eventually be replaced with a larger one, according to the news release.
Prior to constructing the new road pattern, GDOT will be converting the intersection to an all-way Stop with signs and rumble strips.
Construction is set to being Aug. 28, the news release states.
