Vacant Lizella house destroyed by fire

A two-story house in Crawford County was destroyed by a fire.

The Crawford County Fire Department responded to the home on 1709 Girl Scout Road in Lizella around 7 Thursday evening. According to Fire Chief Randall Pate, the home was engulfed in flames by the time they arrived.

Pate says the home is supposed to be vacant. It is owned by Opal Daniel, but her family moved her into a nursing facility. He says the structure is a total loss. Crews will return to the scene on Friday to determine a cause of the fire.
