Pensacola, Florida - A Pensacola man has been charged with first-degree sexual assault and cruelty toward a child for allegedly impregnating a teenage relative in March 2009.

Henry James Jones, 46, of the 2400 block of North Guillemard Street, remained in Escambia County Jail under $750,000 bond on charges of sex assault of a child under 16 by a custodian older than 21 and cruelty toward a child.

According to Jones' arrest report, the 14-year-old girl reported to the Department of Children and Families in August and later to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office on Jan. 5 that Jones, a relative, sexually battered her and she became pregnant, having a baby in December 2009.

A paternity test concluded in November that Jones was the father of the teen's child. If convicted, Jones would face up to 30 years in prison on the sex charge and five years on the cruelty charge.
