WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is raising $1 million for his presidential campaign at a fundraiser near the White House.

Twenty-five supporters each paid $40,000 to meet with the president at a Washington hotel. The event is closed to the media.

Obama will also raise more money for his campaign later Friday at two events in suburban Virginia.

The events cap a week in which the president tapped donors in four states: California, Oregon, Washington and Louisiana. His estimated total from that fundraising swing was at least $7 million.
