The contest for the Democratic spot on the ballot for Bibb County Sheriff was a three way showdown.

Chief Deputy David Davis will move on to the November general election.

Cheers rang out Tuesday night at Davis' campaign headquarters.

After the results were tallied, Davis spoke to the crowd gathered.

"Thank you all for being here tonight," he said.

He says his victory shows the people of Bibb County heard and believed his message.

"My whole campaign has been built around availability," he said. "To where everybody can do something on their street."

The Sheriff's race was a battle between three candidates. Supporters also gathered to watch results roll in with Bill Lucas and Albert Hall.

"The other two candidates, Bill Lucas and Albert Hall, we don't have anything personally against each other," said Davis. "We were all running for Sheriff of Bibb county, so I congratulate them on the race that they run."

In the end though, only one man claimed victory.

"This has been a lifelong dream, running for sheriff," said Davis.

Even though there's a celebration now, the fight continues for Davis in the general election on November.

Davis faces republican Shawn Fritz in the November election.
