Tony Rojas, the Macon Water Authority's director told 13WMAZ that the Bibb County Probate Court judge will name the new authority chairman.

Rojas said the authority's bylaws dictate that the Probabte judge make the appointment.

Judge William Self II, said the person he appoints will serve until the election set aside for November 5, 2013.

"The board members will certainly want to make recommendations, as far as any potential candidates," Rojas said.

Judge Self said he would like to announce the appointment in the next 14 to 21 days.

The chairmanship was passed temporarily to Vice Chair Javors Lucas when longtime Chairman Frank Amerson died Friday, September 14.
