Within minutes of the start of Tuesday's council meeting, an issue over a procurement manager position was settled.

Council member, Mike Daley presented the ordinance to create a procurement manager, and an assistant position to the floor.  The motion was approved unanimously.

This marks the fourth council meeting where the ordinance needed a vote.

According to Mike Daley, there's already an internal candidate for the position.

"We feel very good about the person that's going to be in charge of that department, and also having that position to assist that person," he says.

Now that council has reached an agreement on the ordinance, Mayor Chuck Shaheen says it's time to focus on finishing SPLOST projects.  As of now, council doesn't have a plan in place to get them done.

"We owe the citizens an obligation to complete (them)."

Daley says the next step is to go through the SPLOST projects and the amount of money involved for each.
