ETSU Women Knock Off Mercer

MACON, Ga. - Three Mercer women's basketball players scored in double figures as the Bears lost to ETSU, 75-59 at the University Center Thursday night. Sophomore Briana Williams scored a team-high 16 points in the loss.

Mercer slipped to 3-20 (1-11 A-Sun) while ETSU jumped to 6-16 (5-6 A-Sun).

Williams' 16 points came in conjunction with five assists, four rebounds and a steal. Freshmen Precious Bridges and Alicia Williams scored 11 and 10, respectively.
After taking a 40-29 lead into halftime, ETSU shot 14-of-25 (56%) from the field in the final 20 minutes of action. ETSU sophomore Destiny Mitchell scored 19 of her game-high 30 points in the final stanza as the Bucs led by double digits for the entirety of the period.

Alicia Williams' broke into double figure scoring for the sixth time this season and first time since January 2 against Florida Gulf Coast. She also collected a season-high eight rebounds in the loss.

Mercer held an edge in second-chance points (16-11) and bench scoring (25-23) while ETSU won points in the paint (44-22), and fast-break points (12-4).

Mercer resumes A-Sun play on Saturday, hosting USC Upstate at the University Center. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
