It came down to Florida and North Carolina in the final of the Little League Softball Southeastern Regional. Florida made noise early, but had to fight off a comeback by Carolina to get the 8-4 win.
The Sunshine State jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but North Carolina put up four runs in the third inning to take the lead.
That was it for the ladies in baby blue. Florida fought back with hard hitting and solid defense to save the win.
"Our girls played outstanding," said Florida Manager Wes Mathis. "Our starting pitcher could only go five innings so we had to make that one inning switch. Four runs.. that scared me a little bit, but I knew the girls would battle back. It was a matter of holding them to those four runs and they did it."
Florida advances to the Little League Softball World Series in Portland.
