Over in the GISA world, there is one team that reigns supreme on the softball diamond. That's the Westfield Lady Hornets buzzing with a 14-4 record.
Laying claim to their 13th straight region title in a row. Wow. The Green and Gold clinched the first place finish last week in a 6-nothing shoutout over Stratford.
What's impressive for Coach Kyle Davis and Westfeild is that the team lost 8 seniors from last years squad and only return one senior to the fold this campaign.
He says the recipe to their success is simple.
"I would say the team chemistry", says Davis. "They seem to play well for each other. Just a bunch of hard workers and they just give it all they got, day in and day out. I'm glad we could keep the region streak alive. You know 13 in a row is pretty impressive whatever region you're in but what makes it even more impressive is the last three years, the state champ has come out of our region so that's pretty strong right there."
The Lady Hornets last won the state championship in 2006, of course they are hoping this is the year they do it again as the last team standing in AAA.
