MACON, Ga.-- The Mercer Bears were back on the hardwood at Hawkins Arena for the first time as a team.
Friday was the start of two-a-day practices for the Bears to prepare them for a scrimmage next Sunday. Up until Friday, Mercer was focusing on going back to the basics of ball handling, footwork, and defense.
The first practice built off of that preseason work.
"Now, it's putting everything together. Team concepts, how do we work together, team building," said head coach Bob Hoffman. "All the things that we've had great success with in recent years, because of the kind of individuals we've got in our program."
"We're ampt," said junior forward Jakob Gollon. "We've been going hard in the preseason all year, doing a lot of lifting and running. The NCAA limits some of our time in the preseason. So we're not allowed to do a whole lot of team stuff, so right now we're really excited to be able to go up and down and play against each other a little bit and finally get a good run in."
