The road to the GISA AAA State Championship starts Friday night in the first round of the playoffs and one of those teams looking to continue their season are the Westfield Hornets.

Head Coach Ronnie Jones and the Hornets ended the regualr season, 9-1 which allowed them to host Trinity Sharpsburg.

Led by 12 seniors, the green and gold suffered their only loss on the road to Deerfield-Windsor in week 7.

But now it

's a new season and Coach Jones says he is excited about their chances but also surprised at their success so far.

"If you would have told us at the front of year that we would be 9-1 I wouldn't have doubted that alittle," says Jones. "Not that I would have told the kids that but we've really come a long ways with some of the people we lost last year and with some not so young but inexperienced people who have gotten better each week."

Gametime is 7:30 at the Hornets Nest.
