MACON, Ga.(School Release) - Mercer women's basketball sophomore Precious Bridges notched the first Atlantic Sun weekly award of her career on Tuesday, picking up Player of the Week honors in an announcement made by the conference office.
Bridges' honor comes on the heels of her career-high 29 point performance at Georgia Southern, which powered Mercer to its second win in its last three outings. Earlier in the week, Bridges booked eight points, three rebounds and a steal in Mercer's road loss to No. 6 Georgia.
Bridges' 29-point output bumped her season scoring average to 17.1 points per game, tying Florida Gulf Coast's Sarah Hansen for second best among A-Sun competitors. She also currently ranks among the league leaders in free throw percentage (10th - 69.6%), and offensive rebounding average (11th - 2.5).
On the season, the West Palm Beach, Florida native has cracked the 20-point barrier three times and led the team in scoring on four occasions.
Bridges and her Mercer teammates return to action on Sunday, hosting Alabama State at 2 p.m.
