The Mercers Bear baseball team is off to one of their best starts in program history at 24-8 with signature wins over Ohio State, Notre Dame and Tuesday night's 9 run victory over No. 12 ranked Georgia Tech.

The Bears guided by 6 seniors, are leading the NCAA in home runs and bases walked. The offense also boasts top 5 totals in runs per game and doubles. Junior Derrick Workman is leading the ASUN with a .426 BA and 7 HR helping pave the way for a possible regular season title for the orange and black.

Junior Derrick Workman explains, "It starts at the top with our coaching. We have great scouting reports, great game plans, great preparation. The team has a great work ethic. Everyone wants to be there, every single day. Guys want to be out there. We have a great veteran offense filled with a lot of juniors and seniors. And our starting pitching goes deep in the game to save our bullpen. Every single game is a top to bottom team effort. We gel very well and have a great chemistry and when you have all those factors, that makes for a great team."

The Bears travel to North Florida for a conference series starting Friday night at 6.
