It's that time of the year, for a local track and field event to honor a living Macon legend who gave so much to the sport, especially here in Bibb County.
The annual Copeland Invitational, celebrating the recently retired Northeast coach Alvin Copeland will begin this weekend.
The track meet starts Saturday morning at 9:30am with field events. Sprint events will follow just after midday. Fifteen schools from Central Georgia and across the state including Warner Robins, Rutland, Howard and Southwest-Macon to name a few, are expected to compete in 18 different events, both girls and boys.
Northeast will be the host school, again things will start Saturday morning at Thompson Stadium.
