It's the first day former Tattnall head football coach will take to the gridiron outside of his signature blue and gold.
Coach Barney Hester kicked off the prelude to the Howard football season as they began spring drills Monday afternoon.
More than 75 players took to the practice field learning the fundamentals of basic blocking and tackling and Hester says he's just as excited as the players.
"Anytime you start football practice its an exciting time. We've been lifting and doing drills, it's good to get out on the field and see what we have. Coaching is coaching, you go out and teach the fundamentals. You start with a football and you work your way up. If you skip any of those steps, you might as well go back to the drawing board. So building on what's been done here and moving forward," says Hester.
Spring football lasts for 2 weeks. Howard is 0-20 over the past two seasons.
