The Georgia College baseball team had one final practice Tuesday in Milledgeville before packing up to play in the Southeast Regional Tournament.
The Bobcats are the Peach Belt Tournament Champions for the first time in school history. Georgia College defeated Montevallo Sunday in the title game, 3-2.
This was the first time since 2008 that the Bobcats won a game in the conference tournament. They plan to use that as motivation when they start their run in the regional on Thursday.
Former Tattnall baseball standout says, "There was a lot of people that doubted us this whole season and we knew if we stuck together as a team what we were capable of doing and just the fact that we stuck together as a team and played some of the best ball we've played all year."
Head coach, Tom Carty adds, "You know I don't think we were expected to go as far. We had some depth issues on the mound. We had some young guys playing so I think there's a little bit of vindication from that stand point."
Georgia College is the 5 seed and will take on 2nd-seeded U-S-C Aiken on Thursday.
The Pacers are the Peach Belt Regular season champs.
This is the first trip to regionals for the Bobcats since 2010.
