MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. (School Release)- The No. 25 Georgia College (35-18) baseball team won its second elimination game at the 2013 NCAA Southeast Regional, knocking out No. 3 USC Aiken (42-13) 9-2 Saturday afternoon.
The No. 5-seed Bobcats eliminate the No. 3-seed Pacers, and advance further through the loser's bracket to play another game today against host No. 1-seed and national No. 1 Mount Olive College.
Georgia College got on the Pacers early with a quick 3-0 lead over the first three frames. After USCA cut the lead to 3-2 in the fourth, it was a four-run seventh inning that pushed it back out of reach.
Righty starter Matt LaMothe (Troy, Mich.) continued his post-season dominance with eight innings, allowing two runs and scattering eight hits, improving to 9-4 on his senior campaign.
All nine Bobcat hitters tallied hits, with six posting two hits each. Centerfielder Ikaika Anderson (Austell, Ga.) was 2-for-5 with three RBI. Junior catcher Steve Hazel (Kentwood, Mich.) had two hits and a pair of RBI with a run.
Mikee Moore (Dunwoody, Ga.), Clay Ardeeser (Loganville, Ga.), Daniel Bick (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Cody Maas (Alpharetta, Ga.) also had two hits each. Moore and Ardeeser scored a pair of times each.
