MACON, Ga. (School Release) - After securing its first Atlantic Sun Regular Season Title in program history, the Mercer baseball team moved up to the No. 2 spot in the most recent College Baseball Daily Top-25 Mid-Major Poll released on Monday morning.
Mercer (42-14, 20-7 A-Sun) swept its three-game series from Northern Kentucky in its only action this past week to set a school record for most wins in a single-season.
The Orange and Black started the season ranked 25th in the poll and has been steadily moving up the charts all season long leading up to a three-week stay in the No. 1 spot in late April and early May. Mercer sits at No. 2 in the poll this week, trailing only Big East power Louisville for the top spot
The Bears are one of three Atlantic Sun Conference teams in the CBD Mid-Major poll, joining No. 14 Florida Gulf Coast and North Florida who is currently in the receiving votes section.
Mercer is back in action when it begins A-Sun Tournament play as the No. 1 seed on May 22. The Bears take on No. 8 USC Upstate in the first round at 1:15 p.m. at Melching Field in DeLand, Fla.
