Washington County High School was the site of the 10th annual Takeo Spikes football clinic. Over 300 kids attended the free camp. Spikes is a linebacker and played for the Chargers last season.
Spikes partnered with the Word of Life Church and USA Football to organize the event.
Campers went through drills focused on basics like passing, catching and running. They weren't the only ones who got something out of the event.
"It's gratifying, very gratifying," said Spikes. "I was always taught that in life, you have the possibility of earning two types of checks. One is a physical check, which you go to work and work for as far as the monetary stuff and the other one is the emotional check and to be able to come out here and be able to give back to the community and to receive that feeling, you can't explain it, but you can only talk about how it feels."
