QUITMAN, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in south Georgia say three high school football players have been killed in a car accident.
Brooks County coroner's officials say the teens were involved in a one-car crash Tuesday morning north of Quitman - about 20 miles west of Valdosta.
Coroner's officials have identified the victims as Jicarre Watkins, Johnny Parker, and Shawn Waters, each 18. Authorities say the teens attended Brooks High School and were on their way to a morning practice session when the accident happened.
Former Southeast-Macon head coach Maurice Freeman is the head coach now at Brooks County.
Authorities say a fourth boy, Devron Whitfield, was airlifted to Shands hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
Details on how the accident happened were not immediately available. Brooks County Sheriff's officials say the Georgia
State Patrol is investigating the crash.
A vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Brooks High School.
