HAWKINSVILLE - Just down the road in Pulaski County, the Hawkinsville Red Devils are bringing back a lot of experience in hopes of launching themselves into the playoffs.
Head Coach David Daniell returns 13 starters to the red and white, along with 11 seniors who are eager to make some noise in region 4A. Daniell is entering his second year as head coach and hoping that in his return back, the Devils can make post season a reality for the first time since 2010.
"We have our quarterback and running backs back", says Daniell. "Defense has a lot of guys coming back. We have a lot of experience on the defense. We're not young anymore so we can't use that as a excuse anymore. Right now, we're trying to find the right leaders. We want some guys who want to lead this team. We got some that are trying to lead in different ways and soon as we get all that in place. I think we'll be alright."
Hawkinsville heads to Bleckley County for the season opener this Friday night.
