BONAIRE - There was an extra step of excitement on the football practice fields at Houston County Tuesday afternoon.

That's because morale is still high after a HoCo season opening win over a talented Harris County team that reached the third round of the playoffs last year.

First year head coach, Von Lassiter says he's always glad to enjoy a win, but this is a new week and the focus is on this Friday night.

Lassiter also says everyday is a process towards getting better and this team has a lot to improve on.

"As long as we're coaching here, we're going to coach them the same every day" says Lassiter. We expect the same things out of them every day."

"The guys are starting to feel a rhythm now. They know what to expect from us every day and soon as we get them comfortable, we turn up the pressure a little bit and they respond well because they work hard. We're real proud of our guys and fortunate to be able to coach them."

Friday night, Tift County hosts the Bears in Tifton at 7:30 p.m.
