MILLEDGEVILLE - The GMC Prep Lady Dogs softball team are having early repeat success on the diamond this fall, positioning them as the only state ranked softball team in Central Georgia at number 4 in Class A.
That's because Coach Julie Brooker returns the entire team that finished as Class A public state runner ups to Gordon Lee last October.
This season Brooker has only two seniors that have helped pace the girls to a 6-1 start to begin their campaign.
Brooker says experience is a big contributor to their hot streak right out the gate.
"We're off to a great start, I'm really proud of my pitching" says the second year head coach. "We have two great pitchers and we're hitting the ball well. We have a team quote that says, "You have to fight a battle more than once to win it" and that has really been motivating everybody to make sure if we get there, hopefully we make the state tournament then just to act like we've been there before."
GMC travels to Eagles Landing Christian Academy on Thursday to avenge their only loss on the year.
