Macon, GA - Freshman Taylor Poole notched a hat trick as Wesleyan College concluded its season-opening four-match homestand with a decisive 7-0 win over Johnson University - Tennessee at the Mathews Athletic Complex to improve to 3-1-0 on the season, the best start in school history.
A former Northside High School standout, Poole's three goals today pushed her season total to six in four matches.
Freshman Leah McLeod scored her seventh goal of the season, while junior Anna Hernandez netted her fourth. Freshman Megan Radcliffe and sophomore Linda Marie Tonn also found the back of the net, each scoring their first collegiate goals. Abby Stephens and Alyssa Whitford combined to register the team's second shutout of the year.
"I'm ecstatic to start this season with three wins," remarked Wesleyan head coach Ciaran Traquair. "We played very well today and got to see a lot of girls play a lot of minutes. We still have some areas to improve on, but I couldn't be happier for Wesleyan and for this team to see such a promising turn for the direction of this program."
Wesleyan turns around and faces Johnson-Tennessee again Saturday in Knoxville. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00pm.
