MACON - It's been a pretty incredible year for rookie pro golfer Russell Henley, finishing 44th overall with fed ex points and 33rd on the money list. This evening 200 of his closest family, friends and fans honored him tonight at the Idle Hour Country Club.
Henley was back in town during a week off before he heads back out on the road to compete.
Former coaches and close family friends showed up to help celebrate the 4 time All American and two time state champion on his first year as a pro and the 2013 Sony Open winner says he was overwhelmed by the continued support from his hometown as he continues to learn the game.
"After the win it was definitely a grind and I got to play all the big tournaments which is great", says Henley. "But I learned a lot. I learned a lot about myself and what I need to improve and get better. I got a lot of stuff to work on this year and this has given me a spark and get out there next year."
Henley says he has 4 tournaments scheduled for this fall beginning in Las Vegas in two weeks.
Idle Hour also added a portrait of Henley to hang inside the Clubhouse besides some of the other golfing greats.
