HOUSTON COUNTY - Post season for GHSA softball gets underway this week and one of the teams hitting the diamond looking to advance are the Houston County Lady Bears.
Led by head Coach Angela Crawford , the Bears are 19-11-1 and fresh off a region tournament championship last week over Jones County.
Coach Crawford says her team, has battled back from an 0-3 start to begin the season to a 7 game winning streak to date.
Crawford says the strength is in the players.
"We have three seniors" says Crawford, "Kelli Warner and Carson Carriker starting for Houston County for the past four years at short stop and behind the plate for us. But I think our strengths are that we have three good pitchers that can go in at anytime and get the job done for us. They really don't change us defensively or offensively and we're able to throw different speeds and different movements at teams and make them adjust offensively to us."
The Bears host McIntosh Wednesday in a double header starting at 4:30. Game two is to follow.
