A region championship is at stake in the Shamrock Bowl on Friday. After an 0-2 start, the Fighting Irish have a chance to clinch with a win over Laney.
Dublin is on a six-game win streak coming into its matchup against the Wildcats. Both teams are 6-2, and 4-0, in region 3-AA.
Dublin Coach, Roger Holmes, saw his team go 2-8 last season. He and his players say the change has everything to do with attitude.
"It's been a much more enjoyable season. We've a had a group of seniors that have been phenomenal leaders this year. They've come to work every day," said Holmes.
Senior running back Brandon Coney witnessed the change first-hand. This year's group is more supportive.
"The attitude has changed. If we make a bad play, we pick each other up. That's how it goes."
Ken Woodruff, also a senior, is ready to take command of the region from his middle linebacker spot.
"Last year we lost, and nobody thought we would be in this situation. We want to prove everybody wrong and show everybody that Dublin is back."
Coney started as a sophomore when Dublin lost in the third round of the playoffs. He and Woodruff said they're both ready to be in a game with a title on the line again.
Dublin kicks off at 7:30 on Friday. Look for coverage of that matchup on 13WMAZ's Football friday Night.
