Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Stephen Strasburg and the Washington Nationals met a team with something to play for Friday night, and neither fared very well.

Dan Uggla accounted for four runs and the Atlanta Braves scored three times against Strasburg in the first inning, holding on for a 7-4 victory over red- hot Washington.

The Braves, who won for just the fifth time in 13 games, moved 3 games ahead of the cardinals who lost to the Cubs 5-1 Friday night.

Strasburg (0-1) got his first decision in four major league starts since coming back from Tommy John surgery, but it was a losing one.

He settled down after a shaky first inning but came out of the game after four innings -- the fourth straight time since his return that he pitched six innings or fewer.
