MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College baseball team (7-5) plated four runs in the bottom of the seventh Tuesday, picking up a win over Newberry College (4-7) 4-1 at John Kurtz Field.

Three hits, two walks and a big hit batter in the seventh helped the Bobcats turn a 1-0 deficit into a 4-1 win.

After a pair of singles and a walk loaded the bases, GC tied the game on a sacrifice fly from Matthew Robinson (Hull, Ga.). Another walk followed by a hit batsman gave GC the go-ahead run. Catcher Cody Maas (Alpharetta, Ga.) then busted the game open with a two-run single through the left side for the 4-1 final.

GC sent six pitchers to the hill, allowing just one run to the Wolves. Matt LaMothe (Troy, Mich.) got the win, tossing three innings of no-hit ball, fanning five and walking two for his first Bobcat victory (1-0). Zack Hula (Kennesaw, Ga.) was lights-out for the final two frames, striking out five while not allowing a single baserunner. Newberry reliever Johnathan Rosenberger (1-1) took the loss without retiring a batter.

Shortstop Tanner Funk (Kearney, Mo.) was 2-for-2 with a run, while third baseman Travis Echols (Suwanee, Ga.) hit 2-for-4 with an RBI. Leftfielder Josh Young (Lake Havasu City, Ariz.) rounded out the multi-hit performers with a 2-for-4 day, scoring once.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m., traveling to No. 29 USC Aiken in a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
