Macon Giants Prepare for Woodbat Opener

The Macon Giants are back this summer looking to defend their championship title. Last season it was the Great South League, now its on to bigger and better things in the Premiere Prospect League.

Wednesday the Giants were busy cleaning up the ballpark and reworking the dry diamond at the Ed Defore Complex as one of 7 teams in a 35 game season with the PPL. The league is made up of newly high school graduates and college baseball players from across the country who are conditioning and gaining more experience with the wood bat in this all woodbat league.

Macon Giants coach Jay Cranford says all that's missing is the fans. Thursday the Macon Giants will play their home opener against the Atlanta Avalanche at Ed Defore Sports Complex.Game time is 6 pm.
