Georgia College earns home win

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 27 Georgia College baseball team (30-12) used six pitchers to hold Colonial Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Champion Winston-Salem State University (34-15) down for a 6-3 victory Thursday at John Kurtz Field. The victory came in the final home non-conference matchup of the season for the Bobcats.

After giving up three in the second, the Bobcat pitching staff held the Rams to just five hits over the remainder of the contest. Righty reliever Jake Anthony picked up the win with three innings of work, scattering a pair of hits for just one unearned run. Anthony fanned two, improving his record to 2-0 on the season.

Fellow relievers Josh Pape, Micah Thompson, Jordan Modine and Jordan Brooks from Macon combined to toss the final five frames, surrendering just five hits and fanning four. Brooks added his second save with a scoreless ninth.

Down 3-1 heading into the bottom of the second, the Bobcats exploded for four runs, never looking back. Georgia College sent nine to the plate, plating four on three hits, one error and two walks.

The win was the 30th this season for the Bobcats, making it back-to-back 30-victory years. Nine of the last 10 seasons, Georgia College baseball has reached the 30-win plateau.
