With just a bit over 2 months left in the countdown to the kickoff of college football, the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame welcomed dozens of college and university football programs to the Annual Peach State Pigskin Preview.
Coaches like top Dawg, Mark Richt spoke with reporters as well as Tech lead man Paul Johnson all fielded questions from the media. The mission of this free for all media frenzy was to allow us in the sporting world to gain a glimpse of what's to come in the 2012 football season. And the coaches seem just as excited for kickoff as the fans.
Richt adds, "Losing three seniors that all ended up drafted, you knew you lost some good leaders and some good talent base so the offensive line is a big question mark right now. We've got a very coachable bunch of guys that want to be great and I think they're going to be willing to put the work in to do that, but you know we've got a lot of experience and a lot of good leadership on the field. We got to make sure that we take care of business. They can't just expect victories, they've got to earn them."
Johnson comments, "Well I think last year certainly we got off to a great start, and we didn't finish as well as we would've liked. So that's a big priority going into this season. You know got a huge game to open this season on Labor day night against Virgina Tech in Blacksburg. It'll be a big challenge but a lot of excitement around the program, and a lot of intensity this summer working out, so you know gotta get off to a good start and finish a little stronger than a year ago."
Now over the rest of the summer, we will be previewing the seasons of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mercer, Fort Valley State, Georgia Military College, Georgia Southern and Mercer as we countdown to the start of college football.
