Wednesday morning, about 20 Georgia Military College football players traveled to the capital to meet the governor.
They received the honor because this weekend the Bulldogs are playing for a national championship.
It would be the schools second under head coach Bert Williams.
GMC is undefeated and top-ranked as they go up against second-ranked East Mississippi Community College.
The Dogs piled up points. going 11-0,this year but the Lions have a powerful offense themselves, averaging about 45 points a game.
Williams says his guys have to protect the ball to come out on top against the Lions.
"They've been very prolific this year and I think a lot of their scores have come on short fields, and they've also come off of defensive scores and turnovers, so their defense has created that, but offensively they've put a lot of points up, and so we're going to have to step up and slow them down, so if we have to score 46 we will find a way to do that on the offensive side as well," Williams said.
The guys have one more practice Thursday before they leave for Biloxi Friday.
