The Mercer softball team swept a doubleheader with Georgia Southern Thursday at Sikes Field.
The Bears hit two home runs in the first game and beat the Eagles 4-3 before run-ruling them in game two 11-3 on the strength of four homers, three from Caroline Taylor.
Julia Rice pitched five innings of one-run ball to help lead the Bears to their game one victory. Junior Kaylynn Sloat provided the offensive firepower with a three run homer.
Mercer scored seven runs in the first three innings of Game Two to cruise to the sweep.
Taylor was the MVP of this one as she belted three home runs out of the park going a perfect 3-for-3 with seven RBIs while also tallying a walk. Sophomore Natalie Shiver also had a 3-for-3 game, hitting a home run in the third inning.
