Wilcox County grad Nick Marshall was one of three Georgia freshman football players Mark Richt dismissed from the team Friday, according to a release sent out by the school.
Marshall, along with Sanford Seay (WR, Lee Co.), and Chris Sanders (DB, Tucker) were let go for a violation of team rules.
In the announcement Richt said "It's a privilege to play college football and to be a part of this team and University.
"Along with that privilege comes certain responsibilities. Mistakes were made and part of our job is helping them learn from mistakes. Going forward, we are committed to assisting them find opportunities where they can continue their education."
Marshall played in 13 games, primarily on special teams, finishing the season with five tackles. Seay was a redshirt in 2011. Tucker played the first three games before getting sidelined with an injury.
Wilcox Co. head coach Mark Ledford said Marshall "had a great opportunity, made a mistake and he's going to have to try and learn from it."
Ledford did not say what the cause for the dismissal was. He did say other programs have already contacted him in regards to Marshall's playing future.
