Kiawah Island, SC (Sports Network) - Scott Verplank withdrew from the PGA Championship on Friday citing a hip injury.

Verplank played nine holes Friday at a windy Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. He made the turn in 42 and pulled out of the tournament.

Verplank, who had a 75 in Thursday's opening round, was playing with K.J. Choi and Simon Dyson.
