We are in the final stretch of the prep basketball regular season. The Westside girls basketball team is among the squads locked in a region race that could go down to the wire.
The Lady Seminoles put on the final preparations Monday afternoon for their visit to mary Persons Tuesday night.
Deb Baber's team has won six straight, sitting at 12-1 in Region 2-AAA, but go into their visit to Forsyth a half game behind Kurt Greene's first place Lady Bulldogs. Westside has the head-to-head advantage thanks to a 48-45 overtime win in December.
Baber has experienced starters that she hopes to get the most out of as the postseason approaches.
"I think they understand that they could be a very good team," Baber said. "I think sometimes they know they're potentially good, and then to go ahead and work hard let the animal out the cage. I want them to do that. I think I'm one of these coaches that's never really satisfied with their work ethic. I want more."
Mary Persons hosts Westside for a 2-AAA doubleheader Tuesday night, with the girls starting at 6:00 p.m.
