Javan Wells scored 18 on 6-of-12 shooting from deep to lead Middle Georgia College to a 53-51 win over Atlanta Metro in Cochran.
The Warriors entered the day in second place in GCAA (Region XVII) competition, but with seven teams in striking distance of Scott Moe's team. The win gets them to 9-6 in league play.
MGC trailed 19-16 after halftime, with both offenses struggling out of the gates. Wells put MGC ahead early in the second half, but the Panthers quickly regained the lead. The Warriors surged ahead for good with less than two minutes remaining on a three-pointer from Chris Wright that gave MGC a 53-51 lead.
Moe's team visits South Georgia Tech Saturday.
