Bodybuilders from all over showed off their hard work in Macon on Saturday. Wesleyan College hosted the Southern Natural Bodybuilding and Figure Championships.
Contestants ranged in age from their 20s to late 60s.
Competitors showed off their muscles for the judges and then were called back out for a second look and side-by-side comparison to their competition.
"We have something for every body type," said co-promoter Alli Kerr. "We have swimsuit and that's a more soft look for females. We have a Mr. Fitness, which is a more male model, and then we have figure, which is a little more toned look. Then it goes to bodybuilding which is more muscle for women and men. So we have different categories depending on the level of fitness, tone, muscularity that the competitor has."
Before the competition, everyone is given a polygraph test and a urine analysis to make sure they are not taking any banned substances or enhancements that would give them an edge.
