The countdown to high school football is just a couple of days away and the Washington County Golden Hawks are one of the select teams to play a week earlier than the remainder of teams across the state.
Last Friday night WaCo blanked Dublin in a scrimmage at the Shamrock Bowl 55-0. The Hawks return 16 seniors from a 7-4 playoff team in 2011. Led by Quarterback William Walker WaCo is debuting a new spread offense that looks to better balance the offense on a team where the defense has proven to be stout.
Washington County opens the season on the road this Friday against Eagles Landing. Wa Co is preseason ranked number #5 in AAA while Eagles Landing is #1 in Class A.
